Premier League player of the season - TM users vote for Erling Haaland as best player in England

Erling Haaland had an incredible debut season at Manchester City and this has now been reflected in the vote for the Premier League's Player of the Season. More than 1.5 million users worldwide took part in the vote, and in England 68.6 percent of the votes went to the record goalscorer in the world's most valuable league. The podium to Haaland's right and left is occupied by last year's winner Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gündogan, who has since moved to Barcelona.

Haaland made the move to City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 after the club triggered a release clause of €60 million. From there, the Norwegian international has seen his market value soar to €180m, as well as bagging no less than 36 league goals and a Premier League title. On the way to the first treble in the club's history, the Norwegian also scored eleven goals in the Champions League and three goals in the FA Cup. No one in the world came close to matching Haaland's goal haul. 

Rounding out the top five are Marcus Rashford, who scored 17 times for Manchester United in the league and Arsenal playmaker Martin Ødegaard, who each topped the poll with 2.4 percent of the votes. De Bruyne was voted for by 12.1 percent of TM users after seven goals and 18 assists, and ex-captain Gündogan by 4.6 percent.
